A research cohort of 9 million people
The Danish population represents a cumulative cohort of more than 9 million people. The large size of the study population, by virtue of allowing rigorous evaluation of common and rare diseases, has generated great international interest.
The registries are a rich source of medical and genetic information and provide researchers and physicians with unique opportunities to study disease patterns in a very large patient population. The universal access to public health care eliminates selection bias and ensures representation from all segments of the population.
