Cochrane Aarhus

Cochrane Aarhus is an affiliate Cochrane center located at Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital.

The center was launched on 1 April 2025, embarking on a three-year trial period to support and strengthen Cochrane activities in the broader Aarhus area.

The primary objectives of Cochrane Aarhus are:

  • Research within Cochrane methodology and evidence-based medicine.
  • Teaching systematic reviews methodology.
  • Consultancy on developing and evaluating systematic reviews.

About Cochrane Aarhus

  • Cochrane Aarhus is initially staffed by two part-time senior researchers, professors Mette Nørgaard and Alma B. Pedersen. A PhD student will join the staff during 2026.
  • Cochrane Aarhus will focus on developing an infrastructure for offering consultancy to researchers (PhD students and clinicians) within Cochrane methodology, including developing, evaluating, and publishing systematic reviews.
  • Professor Henrik Toft Sørensen is the overall responsible for Cochrane Aarhus.

Who was Cochrane?

Cochrane is named after Professor Archie Cochrane, a Scottish medical researcher who greatly influenced the development of epidemiology.
