Cochrane Aarhus

Cochrane Aarhus is an affiliate Cochrane center located at Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital.

The center was launched on 1 April 2025, embarking on a three-year trial period to support and strengthen Cochrane activities in the broader Aarhus area.

The primary objectives of Cochrane Aarhus are:

Research within Cochrane methodology and evidence-based medicine.
Teaching systematic reviews methodology.
Consultancy on developing and evaluating systematic reviews.

About Cochrane Aarhus

Cochrane Aarhus is initially staffed by two part-time senior researchers, professors Mette Nørgaard and Alma B. Pedersen. A PhD student will join the staff during 2026.
Cochrane Aarhus will focus on developing an infrastructure for offering consultancy to researchers (PhD students and clinicians) within Cochrane methodology, including developing, evaluating, and publishing systematic reviews.
Professor Henrik Toft Sørensen is the overall responsible for Cochrane Aarhus.

Who was Cochrane?

Cochrane is named after Professor Archie Cochrane, a Scottish medical researcher who greatly influenced the development of epidemiology.
