GETTING TO AARHUS

By air:

Travelling to/from Aarhus Airport

Aarhus Airport Tirstrup is located 40 km north of the city and offers direct international flights to a number of European destinations.

There is an airport shuttle bus from Aarhus Airport with frequent departures (every 20 minutes after each flight arrival with departures from just outside the main entrance). The fare is about DKK 100 and it takes about 50 minutes to reach downtown Aarhus.

The bus fare can be paid cash or by credit card. 

There are direct flights between Aarhus Airport/Tirstrup and Copenhagen Airport. The flight takes 35 minutes. In Copenhagen a free transit bus links the International and Domestic airport terminals.

Travelling to/from Billund Airport

Billund Airport is located 100 km south of Arhus and has direct international flights to many European and overseas destinations.

There is an airport shuttle bus between Aarhus and Billund Airport with several daily departures. The travel time from Billund Airport to downtown Aarhus is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Tickets are sold on the bus for about 160 DKK. It is possible to pay by credit card.

Travelling to/from Copenhagen Airport

Copenhagen Airport has direct flights to a large number of international destinations and is connected to Aarhus Airport/Tirstrup with many daily departures on weekdays and some departures on Saturdays and Sundays. The domestic flight takes 35 minutes. It is also possible to catch a train from the airport directly to Aarhus (the destination is "Aarhus H").

By train:

Aarhus lies at one of the largest railway junctions in Denmark. There are hourly departures to the north, south, and west. Aarhus has hourly services to and from Copenhagen, a trip that takes about three hours. There are several daily connections to Sweden, Germany and the rest of Europe.

Trains bound for Aarhus station leave Copenhagen Airport hourly. The price is up to DKK 430 for a one-way ticket (including seat reservation), depending on the time of day. To buy a ticket at Copenhagen Airport, you should go to the DSB ticket sales booth in Terminal 3 just next to the escalator that takes you down to the train.

By ferry:

There is a ferry line from Aarhus to Odden on Zealand with many daily departures. Check the Molslinjen website for current timetables.

By taxi:

Individual taxi services are available. The price from Aarhus Airport to central Aarhus is approx. DKK 600 and DKK 1500 from Billund Airport to central Aarhus.

GETTING AROUND IN AARHUS

It is easy to get around in Aarhus either on foot or by public transport. The city is serviced by many bus lines and a light rail train, Letbanen. Both are operated by MidtTrafik.

GETTING TO MOESGAARD

The city bus line (yellow busses) no. 18 goes from central Aarhus to Moesgaard Museum. A single ticket costs DKK 22 if purchased by cash/credit card and DKK 17 if purchased via the MidtTrafik app. Learn more.

A taxi from central Aarhus to Moesgaard costs from DKK 215 (more if the traffic is heavy).
