Large grant from the Lundbeck Foundation

Postdoc Linda Ejlskov receives grant for project on socioeconomic position and mental health

Postdoc Linda Ejlskov has received a large grant of DKK 2.3 million from the Lundbeck Foundation for a project on social inequalities in mental health.

Linda will establish a prospective register-based cohort of all children born in Denmark from 1980 onwards. The cohort will include longitudinal family and individual data on psychiatric disorders, health, family function/dysfunction, and socioeconomic factors.

The aim is to investigate the contribution of socioeconomic position to the development of mental disorders. The project will provide a more holistic view of the excess mental health burden associated with growing up in a disadvantaged socioeconomic context. Such knowledge is essential to guide policies aiming at reducing the risk of mental disorders.
