FAQ

  • When is the next summer school?

The 2024 summer school is scheduled for 10-14 June 2024. Sign up to our mailing list to be the first to know when the program is announced.

  • Are ECTS points awarded?

Each participant will receive a course certificate with a course description and the number of contact hours. It will be up to each student’s academic institution to assign ECTS credits accordingly, taking into consideration each participant’s previous course work and institutional ECTS rules. Aarhus University usually awards 1 ECTS point per approx. 10 contact hours, provided they do not replicate previous coursework. The 2024 summer school will consist of approx. 27 contact hours.
 

  • Are there any prerequisites for participation?

There is no formal selection process for participation. However, to fully benefit from the course, participants need to have basic-to-intermediate level of knowledge in epidemiology and biostatistics. Please contact us at summerschool@clin.au.dk if you are not sure if you qualify.
 

  • Are the course sessions offered individually?

The summer school course is offered as one unit and it is only possible to register for the entire program.
 

  • Will I need to install software on my computer?

Yes, you will most likely need to install software on your computer, however, this differs from year to year. If needed for the course, a free short-term STATA license will be provided to participants. It is your own responsibility to install the license or other required software on your laptop. We know from previous years that some institutions/companies require permission to install software on laptops for security reasons.
 

  • Do I need to bring a laptop to class?

Yes, please bring a laptop to class. Wi-Fi is available in class.
 

  • Course materials and pre-course preparation

Students may be asked to prepare prior to the summer school. A reading list will be provided at least two weeks before. Course materials will be made available for download in a Dropbox prior to the summer school. Students are expected to bring course materials (either in hard copy or on laptop) to class. Copies will not be handed out. Power point presentations from instructors will be made available for download as soon as possible after classes.
 

  • What is included in the course fee?

The course fee includes:

  • Full tuition
  • Five-night stay at Kysthotellet Djursland in Grenaa, Denmark*
  • Breakfast, lunch, tea/coffee, cake, and fruit Monday-Friday
  • Course certificate
  • A complimentary course dinner
  • A social program

* Participants will stay in private rooms. All rooms have complimentary wifi and flat screen TV. Rooms are available from Sunday at 2:00 pm and must be vacated on Friday at 10:00 am.

The course fee does NOT include transportation, dinner (except one course dinner), meals on the weekend, and incidentals.
 

  • How do I register for summer school?

Registration is taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. The summer school offers an early-bird price. You may cancel your registration within 14 days of receiving your order confirmation. After the 14 days, the course fee is non-refundable unless the summer school is cancelled. Please note that your registration is not final until we have received your payment. 
 

  • How do I get to Grenaa?
